West Plains Chamber of Commerce president Latisha Hill presents Cheney’s Elizabeth Gill and Medical Lake’s Mark Newberry with the organization’s annual scholarship awards.
Medical Lake High School 2013 graduate Mark Newberry and Cheney High School 2013 graduate Elizabeth Gill were recipients of West Plains Chamber of Commerce scholarships, awarded at the monthly chamber breakfast meeting on June 6. Newberry and Gill will each receive $1,349 toward their college education. According to a chamber news release there were a total of nine applicants this year and the chamber’s education committee was very impressed with the quality of all the applications.
The funds for the West Plains Chamber Scholarship are raised from the raffle at the monthly membership breakfast, with $100 of the funds for this year’s raffle also donated by chamber member Copy Junction. Chamber members donate raffle items, and tickets are sold to members by board members at each event.
