The Cheney City Council agreed to a $10,000 annual renewal of a contract with Eastern Washington University Athletics for advertising of the city’s Light Department at university athletic contests.
Light Department director Joe Noland said the money comes the Bonneville Power Administration, with the city receiving a budget of $135,000, 20 percent of which must be spent on advertising. The contract with Eastern provides signs, radio and game announcements and other forms of communication urging people to inquire about and/or participate in the department’s conservation program.
