Cheney High School 2013 graduate Calvin Berstler is the recipient of a $1,500 college scholarship from the Scholarships for Military Children Program, and received the award at Fairchild Air Force Base. Reynolds Consumer Products funded the scholarship.
Berstler is enrolled or plans to enroll at the University of Washington, and is the son of Mark Berstler. While at CHS Calvin participated in football, basketball and track and was a member of the National Honor Society and Youth Court.
Approximately 5,000 college and high school students applied for the scholarships at military commissary locations worldwide, with 670 receiving awards. According to a news release, these students had cumulative GPAs between 3.7 and 3.9.
