The May 22 edition of Eastern Washington University’s student newspaper, The Easterner, reported that two members of EWU’s women’s basketball team, junior Chenise Pakootas and redshirt sophomore Morganne Comstock have transferred to schools in Hawaii.

Pakootas, a two-year letter winner out of Inchelium, Wash. will finish her senior season at Division II Chaminade University in Honolulu. Comstock, from Kent, Wash. plans to play at Hawaii Pacific, also a Division II school just four miles from Chaminade.

Both players, who were roommates at Eastern, expressed a desire to rekindle a happiness and love for the game that, for a variety of reasons, apparently had been lost over the last few years.

Pakootas played in all 32 Eastern games last season and started 16. She averaged 4.9 points per game. Comstock appeared in seven games.

EWU head coach Wendy Schuller indicated in an email that the players, “just decided not to return.” She added, “They are both terrific young women and I wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
