Cooperation helps net area McDonald's robber

Spokane County Sheriffs Office and Cheney Police Department investigators combined resources to help arrest a man responsible for at least four robberies of area McDonald’s restaurants over a three-week period in May.

Law enforcement officers from several agencies arrested 23-year-old Sean Martin last Thursday in north Spokane for three counts of first-degree robbery. Martin was armed with a firearm and a large amount of ammunition at the time of his arrest, according to a SCSO news release. During the course of the investigation, quantities of U.S. currency were recovered from his residence and his vehicle.

Cheney’s McDonald’s was robbed last Tuesday night, May 21. During the investigation, county and city officers determined Martin was responsible not only for that robbery, but also on Spokane McDonald’s at 1818 N. Monroe May 3 and at 6321 N. Monroe May 14.

Martin was also alleged to have robbed a McDonald’s in Colville in September 2012.

Assisting with the investigation were the U.S. Marshall Service and the Sheriff’s Office Investigative Support Unit.

“It was a really good cooperative effort by the three groups,” Cheney Police Department Cmdr. Rick Campbell said Tuesday.
