Lorene Robinette passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday, March 13 at her home outside Cheney.

She was born in Spokane, on June 1, 1924. She graduated from Cheney High School and went on to receive a teaching degree from Eastern Washington University. She was married to her sweetheart, Eugene, in 1950, and one year later they welcomed their only son, Maurice, into the world. She extended her love and dedication to many other children in her 30-year career as an elementary school teacher in Medical Lake.

In addition to teaching, she enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing with her husband and son, baking the world’s best cherry pies, and listening to her granddaughters play the piano.

She is survived by her son, Maurice and his wife, Ellen, of Cheney; her granddaughter Beth and her husband Matt, of Cheney; her granddaughter, Jacqueline, of Tacoma; her great-grandchildren Audrey and Charlie; and her twin brother, Lawrence Montague, of Spokane. She is also survived by her network of friends and neighbors whom she welcomed as part of her family, most notably Jerry and Tory Rouse, Jerry and Kathy Pitts, and Cheryl Davis. Contributions can be made in Lorene’s memory to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.

A celebration of Lorene’s life will be held at the Lazy R Ranch, 20811 W. Salnave Road, on June 1 at 2 p.m.
