Cheney girls' tennis goes out on a high note

A young Cheney girls’ tennis team was persistent throughout the season and finished with a 5-9 record on the year.

The team started out their final two matches in a tough fashion against Pullman, losing 6-1. Katelyn Smedley was the lone winner that day, and ended up going 10-4 for the entire season.

They rebounded in a big way the next day, taking down Deer Park 7-0, winning across the board and going out with a bang this season.

“They just played smart and executed our game plan,” head coach Jason Overland said.
