Cheney Community Church

On Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Cheney Community Church will host a National Day of Prayer (NDOP) gathering. The public is cordially invited to attend. The theme for this year’s NDOP is “Pray for America: ‘In His name the nations will put their hope,’” as found in Matthew 12:21. Prayer during the evening will focus on the Seven Centers of Influence in our nation. These are government, church, military; law enforcement and firefighters; family, social services and health; education; media, communication, arts and entertainment and business.

Our worship services this month have featured presentations about Children’s church, Awana Club, and Vacation Bible School to highlight some of our children’s ministries for the Jubilee celebration. Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the week of July 8-12 this year, so mark your calendar! More details will be announced later.

Join us for Sunday morning worship at 10 a.m. Children’s church and nursery care is provided. Pastor Steve Hetrick has begun a series in the book of Matthew. Opportunities during the week include women’s Bible study, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m .; Awana Club on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and men’s prayer groups on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. Youth group for middle and high school teens meets Friday at 6 p.m. while the college group meets Sunday evenings.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The Fifth Sunday of Easter will be celebrated at Emmanuel Lutheran Church this Sunday, April 28. All are welcome to worship at 10:30 a.m. Christian education for grade school children through adults begins at 9 a.m.

StageWest thanks Emmanuel Lutheran Church for graciously sharing their facility for StageWest’s spring production of “Arsenic and Old Lace” directed by Kay Pacheco. Opening night is this Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. Play dates are: April 27-28, May 3-5, 10-12. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adult and $10 for seniors and children. United Church of Christ

Mark May 5 on your calendars to remember to attend pastor Dave Krueger-Duncan’s installation at 3 p.m. followed by a reception hosted by the Women’s Fellowship. Please contact Maryann Donley to offer your assistance with the reception, and contact Grant Smith to help to clean the grounds and buildings on or by the workday, Saturday, April 27.

The United Church of Christ welcomes everyone to the service of worship led by pastor Krueger-Duncan in the sanctuary at 423 North Sixth St., starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 28. Children (age 3 to grade 8) may either go to their class after listening to the children’s minutes or stay in church with their parents. Little ones may stay in the childcare room in the Christian education building from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

We’re friendly folks. Please join us after church as we get to know one another over coffee and cookies.

Feed Cheney serves free restaurant-style meals in the Wren Pierson Building and hand out boxes of food on the last Monday of the month, April 29, between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

United Methodist Church

Please join us this Sunday morning for worship at the United Methodist Church. Worship begins at 10 a.m. and is led by the Rev. Terry Hall. Children’s time and nursery care are provided during the service. There are Sunday school classes for all ages at 9 a.m. each week. You will find the church conveniently located at 204 Fourth St.

There is a second worship service, more conversational in style, available each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at the church.
