Cards fall in softball

After an undefeated previous week Medical Lake softball fell in a pair of Northeast A League games 14-4 at Riverside and 16-7 at home to Lakeside.

A nine-run second inning set the tone at Riverside. After Medical Lake cut it to 9-3 with three runs in the top of the third, the Rams matched that for a 12-3 lead. Medical Lake was limited to six hits including triples Rachel Stanfill and Kayla Pruitt.

Lakeside also had a fast start by scoring eight runs in the top of the first and held back a couple of Cardinal rallies, one that cut it to a 12-7 game in the fourth. Faith Keister had four hits and Darby Evans had three for Medical Lake. Both had doubles as well.

The losses evened the Cardinals’ record at 5-5 on the season.

Medical Lake had three games this week beginning with a contest this past Tuesday at Newport followed by a doubleheader Friday at Freeman beginning at 3 p.m.
