First half 2013 property taxes due to county by April 30
It’s that time of year again for Spokane County property owners. County treasurer Rob Chase is reminding taxpayers that their first half property taxes are due by April 30, as per Washington State law.
If payments are mailed to the Treasurer’s Office through the U.S. Postal Service, they must be postmarked on or before the due date as per RCW 1.12.070. Consequently, those who mail their payment on the due date should be sure that it’s early enough in the day to ensure they are postmarked before the tax deadline.
State law dictates the county treasurers recognize only the cancellation date applied by the U.S. Postal Service to determine the timeliness of the payment. Payments can be mailed to the Treasurer’s Office at the following address: Spokane County Treasurer’s Office, P.O. Box 199, Spokane, WA 99210-0199
Other payment options include ACH, debit and credit cards via the Internet, in office or through the phone system by calling the Treasurer’s Office at (509) 477-4713 and pressing option 2. Those make payment in the Treasurer’s Office should be aware of business hours, Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
