Spokane County Sheriff’s Office investigators are confident the two bodies found Saturday morning in a Cheney apartment are the result of a homicide-suicide.
Cheney police officers were called to the Rosebrook Inn, 314 W. First St. to perform a welfare check. According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, the caller had information that there were two possible homicide victims inside the residence.
At the scene the officer confirmed there were two deceased victims inside the residence, a male and a female. Tuesday morning, April 2, the Spokane County Medical Examiner officially identified the female as 46-year-old Erin (Roman) Michele Bailey.
The examiner determined the cause of Bailey’s death was gunshot wounds to the chest. Last Tuesday afternoon the examiner confirmed the identity of the deceased male as 66-year-old David (Reena) J. Andrews, who died of a “contact gunshot wound of the head.”
Sheriff’s Office investigator obtained a search warrant late Saturday night to enter the residence and obtain evidence.
In an email Monday, Sheriff’s Office public information officer Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the detective working the case believes the incident was a case of murder/suicide, but also said no additional details would be available until next week.
