Cardinals' bats are red hot in doubleheader sweep at Newport

Medical Lake got off to a fast start in its 2013 Northeast A League baseball season last Saturday with a pair of stout offensive performances.

The Cardinals scored nine runs in the first inning of a 14-4 win in the opening game of a doubleheader and then got even better in the 21-1 win over the Grizzlies in the nightcap, scoring 10 runs in their first at bat.

“We had a great week of practice and everything translated onto the field,” Cardinals’ head coach Kerry Kelly said. Taylor Dormaier and Roman Kissack threw the ball very well.
