Blackhawks open track and field season at West Valley Invite

Cheney’s Sanne Holland in a tight race at this point in the 3,200-meter run eventually pulled away for a win at the the West Valley Invite last Saturday.

The Cheney girls captured third and the boys ninth in opening track and field action last Saturday at the West Valley Invitational in Millwood. Overall 12 teams competed in the girls’ competition, 13 in boys.

Sanne Holland, Kendall Dunn and Chae Brown led the Blackhawk girls with first place finishes. Holland captured the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 16.50 seconds while Dunn was first in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.13 and Brown claiming top honors in the field by winning the triple jump with a leap of 36-feet even.
