Former Medical Lake City Council member Judy Abbott remained in serious condition at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane following involvement in a three-car accident Friday, Feb. 1 on SR-902 east of the city.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, the 76-year-old Abbott was eastbound on 902 at 8:21 p.m. when her 2007 Ford Taurus crossed the centerline and struck a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 driven by Mathew J. Judge, 44, of Medical Lake head-on.

While Judge’s vehicle traveled to the right and came to a stop off the roadway, Abbott’s Taurus was then hit by a 1998 Acura Integra driven by 18-year-old Tyler E. James, also of Medical Lake.

According to a Sacred Heart spokesperson, James was treated and released. Judge was uninjured.

WSP said all three vehicles were totaled in the collision. Drugs or alcohol were thought to be a contributing factor with charges pending while the investigation continues.
