Howard Wayne Oliver (age 60) passed away Jan. 17, 2013 in Spokane, Wash. He was born Sept. 16, 1952 in Amarillo Texas.
Howard lived most of his life in Fountain, Colo. and was a graduate of Fountain-Ft. Carson High, class of 1973. He volunteered and worked for 20 years in the Fountain library. Following his mother’s passing in 2001, he moved to Medical Lake, Wash. to live with his surviving sister and her husband, Deb and Scott Chavez.
Howard was quite the survivor, when at the age of 7 he survived encephalitis and a two-month coma. He also battled the complications of being a type I diabetic for the last 40 years. He never asked for help, but was always there to help others with a smile. The last five years he always looked forward to going to work at the Medical Lake library where he adored Laura and all of his coworkers.
Howard passed away peacefully from a pulmonary embolism just a few days after hip surgery from a slip on ice Jan 3. In addition to Deb and Scott, he is survived by his brother Harold Oliver of Clayton N.M., nephews Brock and Sean Chavez, niece Hannah Chavez and two cousins Jainie Fain and Judy Blackburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard A. and Alice Oliver (Harder).
