Night owls seek late-night food in Cheney

Letters to the Editor

After living in Cheney for nearly five years, I have come to really love the city. However, I have noted one “issue” that affects me as a student at EWU and as a member of the Cheney community – late night dining locations. With the exception of Zip’s and maybe the Maverik, there are not any 24-hour options – something that many other cities offer.

People have limited options at night and are inconvenienced. We have a few pizza locations, which are open until 1 or 2 a.m., but in general options seem to be lacking after midnight.

It would be nice if we sought solutions in extending drive-thru hours at McDonald’s, Taco Bell or Carl’s Jr., for example.

Outcomes would include a wide variety of late-night options – affecting happiness of customers, a decrease in the hoardes at Zip’s on the weekends, and additional hours of operation at other locations may provide more hours for employees and increased revenue for the company.

One downfall may be the required trial and error needed to establish the best hours: later on weekends, earlier on weekdays, etc. I do believe the extension of drive-thru hours may be the best option, if done with much consideration.
