The harvest dinner is an annual tradition. The 2008 gathering, shown above, drew quite a crowd.

Have I got a deal for you! Wouldn’t it be fun to eat out Saturday night, Nov. 3? At 6 p.m. Tyler Grange #610 serves their annual free harvest dinner.

“Bring your appetite and a dessert or a side dish,” dinner organizer Lyle Polack said.

What’s on the menu? Turkey, potatoes and gravy, green beans and beverage, all for free. In case you don’t know it, the Tyler Grange cooks are known for their culinary skills.

The famous Tyler Grange baked goods auction follows the dinner. You should see the delectable inventions put up for auction. Here’s where people who love to cook show their creativity. Some luscious desserts are beautiful, some are clever, some make your mouth water just looking at them. And the bidders, wow! This is no ordinary auction. The atmosphere gets lively, let me tell you. Folks are too polite to engage in fistfights, but the competition gets downright hilarious.

Maybe you’d like to bring something for the auction. It will make you proud to see the bidding for your item and to know the proceeds benefit the Grange and helps fund activities. Lyle says, “The more there is to auction, the more fun it is!”

Local merchants donate many door prizes for adults and children. That number you hold in your hand may be the key to a happy surprise.

One last comment: At the beginning of the evening there is a tradition for the whole roomful of people to join in singing the first verse of “God Bless America.” It is so appropriate for us as Americans, especially just three days before the election. “From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam. God bless America, our home sweet home.”

Tyler Grange invites you now. Grab the kids and join your friends and neighbors Nov. 3 for a fun-filled evening. See you there, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
