Medical Lake soccer, volleyball seek first wins
Medical Lake's soccer and volleyball teams are both chasing their first wins this week.
The Cardinal soccer squad was on the road in Colville this past Tuesday and will be home today (Sept. 13) for a non-league match with Deer Park at 4 p.m. on the lower field at MLHS.
Medical Lake fell in its opener in a non-league contest 6-1 to former Great Northern League rival, Clarkston Sept. 6. Sabrina Earle scored the lone goal for the Cardinals. They next lost in overtime to Greater Spokane League Rogers, 1-0, Sept. 8.
Volleyball, 0-2, was home this past Tuesday for a Northeast A League match featuring Lakeside and travels to Deer Park tonight (Sept. 13) for a non-league match. The Cardinals have lost to Newport and Riverside, both by 3-0 scores.
Sydney Kelly led the team with nine digs in the Riverside match in which Medical Lake fell 17-25, 17-25, 14-25. Rachel Crofoot had five assists.
Against Newport where the Cards lost 13-25, 17-25, 12-25, Alexis Nicholson and Olivia Hagel each recorded three kills. Hagel also had four digs while Nicholson added three blocks.
