Victories over West Valley, Deer Park, keep Cheney winning streak alive at 10

The Cheney girls' soccer team remained atop the Great Northern League standings with a pair of wins last week – but just barely.

The Blackhawks needed two overtimes to defeat rival West Valley 2-1 on Tuesday, and managed just two goals in a 2-0 road win over fourth-place Deer Park Thursday. For Cheney head coach Robyn Smith, both performances likely boiled down to a hangover from the Hawks shutout of second-place Pullman on Oct. 8.
