Cheney's city attorney, Steve Miller, is on a temporary leave of absence and will seek outside legal council as he fights possible disbarment for actions related to the management of the estate of Mamie Ottomeier. Miller faces a lawsuit accusing him of a conflict of interest after he was named sole beneficiary of Ottomeier's $750,000 estate.

Former project manager, Don MacDonald, assumed control of Cheney's Public Works Department. MacDonald takes over the job formerly held by Paul Schmidt who moved up to the City Administrator's job.
