Led by quarterback Gage Gubrud who was making his first start, the Eagles stunned the Cougars 45-42 back on Sept. 3, 2016 at Martin Stadium. The Eagles and Cougars meet Sept. 15 in a rematch. This is only the fifth game in a series that began over a century ago and heavily favored Washington State College in its infancy where they won 46-0 in 1907 and 73-0 a year later. That helped the team craft a motto for 2018 to "leave no doubt," which they did by totally dismantling the NCAA Division II Central Washington Wildcats, 58-13 Sept. 1 at Roos Field.... Full story

On Monday, Aug. 6, a series of fires were started along Interstate 90 between Cheney and Medical Lake. Ultimately called the Silver Lake, as of Thurs., Aug. 9 the blaze was listed at having consumed 340 acres of timber, grass and farm land. Each participant likely got to experience something they may never have before and received cowboy hats and bandannas and a special belt buckle from Northwest Farm Credit Services of Cheney. The Medical Lake American Legion Post 196 baseball team hosted the Central Valley/East Valley combined squads at Holliday Field this past Monday, June 11. ML's AA team lost with football-like score 18-3 and 21-13.... Full story

After a quick start by the White Team offense with a pair of early touchdowns, defense took over to dominate and shut out Team Red 17-0 in the annual Red-White Scrimmage April 28 at Roos Field. Team White's Zach Eagle got his team's first score, plus enough receiving and return yardage and was awarded the Iron Eagle award. Once the Chinook powered up, EWU ROTC cadets boarded the vehicle. The cadets were transported to their Spokane River Seven Mile training area northwest of Spokane in two flights....

Eastern Washington University ROTC cadets had the unique opportunity to depart from the Cheney campus to the Seven Mile area of the Spokane River for the annual two-day field training exercise via an Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
