    Cheney High's boys and girls cross country squads ran their Great Northern League marks to 2-0 with wins over East Valley last Wednesday on their new course at Eastern Washington University. The girls placed all seven varsity runners in the top-seven spots to down the Knights 15-50 while the boys five scorers owned six of the top slots in their 19-41 win on the 5,000-meter course.     Medical Lake remained winless on the volleyball court last week dropping a pair of 3-0 matches at Lakeside and Freeman. “Lakeside is the best team in our league and they showed us why,” head coach Todd Harr said.     Kevin Herly of Reardan claimed the top spot in Week 3 of the of the 2016 Cheney Free Press football contest, earning a $50 merchant’s gift certificate, missing one game.     A week after they suffered their first season loss to Great Northern League rivals East Valley, the Lady Blackhawks soccer team returned in full force with back-to-back 2-0 league wins over Pullman (Sept. 27) and Clarkston (Sept. 29).     The Cheney High School girls swimming team downed Clarkston 133-34 on Sept. 22 to collect the Blackhawks first dual meet win of the season. Cheney won all 11 events, beginning with Makenzie Norman, who added the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 free to the list of events she will swim at state in late November.
