    On May 30 Violet Nicol died peacefully after a short illness. She was 94 years old. Vi was born August 5, 1919 in Chicago to immigrant parents. There she went through the Great Depression in a working class neighborhood. Although a good student, she needed to enter the workforce after high school to help support the family rather than attending college.     Adam Oscar Morales, age 21, of Sunnyside, Wash. passed away Tuesday, June 17 in Cheney. Adam was born in Grandview, Wash. Dec. 14, 1992, the son of Ruben and Mariselda “Marci” (Saldaña) Morales. He received his education in Grandview, graduating from Grandview High School with the class of 2011. Adam was currently attending Eastern Washington University majoring in art.     When the Cheney Faith Center submitted their plans for upgrades to their facility, they only intended adding 4,278 square feet, 3,278 square feet of which would be a new sanctuary.     The Airway Heights Police Department has been busy these past several months as there has been an increase in criminal activity throughout the city. According to crime statistics provided by the Police Department, there were 3,145 tracked incidents from January to May 2014. This is up from the 2,802 incidents from January to May of last year.     The city of Airway Heights is wasting no time in searching for a replacement for Barron Williamson’s position on the City Council, which will be vacant after June 30. Williamson resigned his position from the council at the June 2 meeting.     The Airway Heights City Council adopted its reclaimed water plan at the June 16 meeting. The Department of Ecology approved the plan before it was brought to the council. Public Works director Kelly Williquette explained that the city developed the reclaimed water plan to evaluate the use of reclaimed water in the city and to outline a capital improvement plan for recommended improvements.
