    John McCallum, Editor|Updated Dec 14, 2017

Cheney’s residential power customers will see their base rate increase from $14.10 to $16.43, while residential water users’ base rate climbs from $8.26 to $10. The water usage rate increases to $1.40 per 100 cubic feet from $1.05 and $24 per 1,000 cubic feet, up from $18.7...

  • Washington State swings farther to the left

    FRANK WATSON, Contributor|Updated Dec 14, 2017

Those of us who live east of the Cascades seldom pay a lot of attention to local politics in the suburbs of Seattle. However, the implications of the 2017 senate race in the 45th state legislative district extend to our doorstep. The seat is now in the hands of the Democrats, giving them control of both houses of the state Legislature as well as the governorship. For the past several years, the state senate has been the only buffer between us and the free-spending liberals west of the mountains. Gov. Jay Inslee has announced...

  • 'Silent Night' tops the holiday season tune's list

    Grace Pohl, Staff Reporter|Updated Dec 14, 2017

The holiday season brings around the festive and catchy music of the year. So I will just be upfront and honest, my favorite Christmas song is “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. You can judge all you want, but you can’t deny that it is super catchy and you can’t help but sing along to it. And there is always...
