    State legislative 6th District Rep. Jeff Holy (R-Cheney) and Sen. Mike Baumgartner (R-Spokane) spoke and took questions at a town hall meeting at Wren Pierson Community Center, April 30.     The Cheney High boys’ and girls’ golf teams continued to make strides in league competition this past week. The girls’ team bounced back to take second place with a score of 560 points at the third Great Northern League match April 29. Clarkston was first with 533. Leading the Hawks was Steffi Cunningham who shot a season best of 90, two strokes behind Clarkston’s Gracie Frazier, who led the competition at 88.     The Cheney High boys’ tennis team hit a couple of rough spots this past week. The Blackhawks dropped a 6-1 decision to the West Valley Eagles in a Great Northern League match, April 29. His family held a private ceremony at the Spokane Memorial Cemetery where he was laid to rest near his parents, John and Evelyn Gibson. He is survived by his sister, Cindy Bruce of Edmonds, Wash., nieces Leslie, Holly, and Heather, along with five grandnieces and nephews.
