    The city of Spokane Planning Commission held a public hearing, March 26 to receive citizens’ comments for the West Plains Sub-area Transportation Plan. Members of the commission held an open house in Airway Heights back in February where they showed several maps and proposals for different highway, road and beautification projects.     Medical Lake/Espanola SCOPE station volunteers have a new base of operations. SCOPE is now operating out of the Medical Lake police substation at 124 S. Lefevre St. At the suggestion of Spokane County, SCOPE moved out of their previous location at the old Ball and Dodd funeral home, located at 111 W. Brooks, which is owned by the city.     The Cheney high school boy's tennis team kept their undefeated streak alive as they defeated North Central, 7-0, March 26, improving their record to 4-0. Mason Van Stone (No. 1 singles) defeated NC's John Schultz, 6-2, 6-4. Van Stone brings his record to 4-0 for the year.     The Cheney Blackhawks baseball team once again had to battle back from behind to win. This time it was in Deer Park, March 25, against the Stags, who they beat, 15-8. Deer Park jumped ahead to a five-run lead in the first inning. The commission recently submitted a proposal for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment and the land-use change of a nine-acre plot, from SR 902 to Jim Darby Drive, from multi-family residential (R3) to single family residential (R1).
