    On Saturday, March 3, the Inland Empire Hockey Association hosted a "Try Hockey For Free" event at the Eastern Washington University's ice rink located in the University Recreation Center. The session got youngsters of all ages on the West Plains a taste of the sport, in hopes of growing interest with the "Warhorse" organization that now calls Cheney home.     The Medical Lakes girls' magical basketball journey ended when they reached into their bag of tricks last weekend at the Sun Dome in Yakima and found it empty.     Eastern Washington University's Bogdan Bliznyuk added yet another record to his resume in an 85-68 win over Northern Arizona. He has now made 74 consecutive free throws dating back to EWU's game at North Dakota on Dec. 31, breaking the previous NCAA Division I record of 73 set by Gary Buchanan from Villanova over a 21-game stretch in the 2000-01 season.... Full story

    CHENEY Feb. 26 Cheney police assisted the Reardan police department with a juvenile runaway who was attending Cheney High School. Mohammed A. Al-Dhafeeri, 25, was arrested on the 1900 block of First Street for fourth-degree assault/domestic violence. A report of a lost passport was made on the 1100 block of Oakland Street. Cash and credit cards were found on the 2700 block of First Street. Feb. 27 Richard F.     WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Delaney Hodgins’ record effort earns her another player-of-week honor After a historic two games, Eastern Washington University women’s basketball player Delaney Hodgins was selected as the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office March 3.
