    By JANINE HAMILTON Contributor Ellensburg was the location for this year's Inland Empire Swimming (IES) Short Course Championships hosted by the Ellensburg Area Swim Team, Feb. 26-28. Eastern Washington Recreation Association (EWRA) Hurricanes were fortunate to have four swimmers qualify this year: Makenzie Norman, Jenna Riley, Rachel Schafer and Joel Watts.     With wins of 4-1 over Texas A&M and 10-5 against San Diego State, Eastern Washington University's men's hockey team will return to the American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament March 17-20 in Sansbury, Conn. Eastern (25-5-2) will compete in Pool B and opens play March 17 against Boston College (25-2-3).     Cheney High School's boys bowling team finished 11th out of 14 teams at the Washington State Bowling Proprietors' Association state tournament held Feb. 20-21 at Triangle Bowl in Longview. The team of Brian Oens, Drew Henry, Dakota Torkelson, Tyler Gilbrech, Brandon Dixon and Preston Dean rolled a team per game average of 170.80 to finish with 30.5 points, a half point back of the team from Woodinville High School. The Blackhawks senior guard has been selected to play in the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association All State Game, to be held March 20 at Mountlake Terrace High School. This game includes B, 1A/2A, and 3A/4A All-State players from all over Washington. Chris Gregoire's state budget proposal was joined by a Senate plan on Saturday, Feb. 27.
