    Carol June Foland, 61, passed away on Feb. 21 at her home on the Pend Oreille River. Carol was born May 24, 1954, in Ft Payne, Ala., the daughter of Austin and Helen Nash. Her early years were spent in the small town of LaCrosse, Wash. She and her family moved to Cheney where she graduated from Cheney High School and married her high school sweetheart. Trevor Babcock took third in the 200-yard freestyle after he finished in 1 minute and 46.24 seconds and finished fourth (48.76) in the 100 freestyle. Scott Nadeau finished 12th in the 100 butterfly (57.05). In team events, Babcock, Nadeau, Ethan Sugimura and Zach Jongeward took 11th in the 200 medley relay (1:49.45).     The Cheney High gymnastics team wrapped up its first season in 20 years after Alexis Miller and Olivia Hovater competed at the 1A/2A/3A state championships, Feb. 20 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
