Vote ‘Yes’ and support Cheney schools Feb. 13

During the February election, the Cheney School District is asking voters to consider three ballot measures, including replacement Education Programs and Operations and Capital levies, and a much-needed bond to address facility needs and growth within the district.

The replacement EP&O levy is a critical local funding source that supports a significant number of staff positions not funded by the state and provides funding for performing arts, athletics, and extra-curricular activities. The replacement Capital levy will provide student and classroom technology upgrades and improvements to safety and security systems. Both measures would replace expiring levies approved by voters in 2021.

The Cheney School District has done an excellent job of engaging community members in the development of plans that prioritize facility needs and address increased student enrollment. These plans have led to the current bond proposal which if approved would allow the district to build a much-needed second elementary school in Airway Heights (currently two elementary schools in both Cheney and the West Plains and only one in Airway Heights) and acquire land in preparation for addressing future facility needs.

Generations of students and their families have benefitted as the communities of Airway Heights, Cheney, and the West Plains have consistently prioritized education and supported the Cheney School District.

I urge voters to join me in continuing this critical support for students by voting YES to approve all three Cheney School District ballot measures.

Please Vote YES by February 13th!

Rob Roettger,

Cheney
