Cheney Community Church

Today, May 3, is the National Day of Prayer. #PRAY4UNITY. Cheney Community Church is hosting a prayer gathering at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1307 Third St. The community is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The National Day of Prayer mobilizes unified public prayer for America. This year’s theme is unity taken from the Bible verse Ephesians 4:3 “Making every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”

The prayer time will focus on the seven centers of influence in America; government, military, media arts, business, education, church and family. Come join us.

The church women are planning a retreat this coming weekend, May 4-5. The theme is “Battlefield of the Mind” and will feature a special guest speaker. The men held their retreat the weekend of April 20-21 at Camp Sanders in Idaho.

Saturday, May 12 will be a men’s breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by a block party. For questions regarding any of these activities, please call the church office at (509) 235-4841.

All are welcome at Cheney Congregational Church. Sunday services are followed by “coffee hour,” with a wide variety of refreshments and beverages, and an emphasis on conversation.

Choir practice is typically at 5 p.m. on Thursdays through May; however the choir will not rehearse this week.

If you would like to sing with our choir, or provide “special music” (solo or small group) write to katefrancis0612@gmail.com. If you love to make music but don’t have a group or a venue, keep us in mind. Your musical talents would be welcome here.

This Sunday the subject of pastor Rev. David Krueger-Duncan’s teaching will be Jesus ‘Resurrection. Looking ahead, the “Lunch Bunch” will meet on Thursday, May 10, for their monthly potluck in the fellowship hall — all are welcome. Following the potluck, the communications team will meet in the Fireside Room at 1 p.m. The men convene at 7:45 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at Cheney Marketplace Bakery & Eatery for breakfast and informal discussion.

We welcome people in all stages of their spiritual journey, and people of all diversities. We are a friendly, informal congregation, and the church is accessible not only physically, but emotionally.
