Cheney Community Church

All are welcome to worship with us at Cheney Community Church.

Pastor Todd Luce has started a sermon series from Ephesians, on the armor of God; “Stand Strong in the Lord.” A number of small groups called “Connexion Groups” meet in homes during the week. They are also using the Bible study guide, “Stand Strong in the Lord.”

Our middle school/high school youth group, “Holy Flame,” meets every Monday at 6 p.m. for dinner followed by Bible study. Cheney Community Church hosts the women’s Bible study fellowship group for the West Plains area on Tuesdays at 6:55 p.m.

AWANA Club is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. We recently hosted the regional AWANA quizzing competition, and will participate in the regional AWANA games competition on Saturday, March 24. “Holy Flame” youth recently attended a Spokane Chiefs hockey game, and the “Rock and Worship Road Show” in Spokane.

Cheney Congregational Church

Everyone is invited to be with us on Sunday. We are a community of seekers and we welcome people in all stages of spiritual journey and all diversities of life value. Hear a thoughtful and well-reasoned teaching by Rev. David Krueger-Duncan as he continues exploring violence in American society, particularly in our schools. Our excellent choir will perform “Precious Lord.” Please stay after for coffee, refreshments and conversation. You will feel welcomed.

Good food and conversation happens at the “Lunch Bunch” in the fellowship hall at noon March 15. It’s a potluck and all are welcome. Men’s breakfast will start at 7:45 a.m. on March 25 at The Marketplace Bakery & Eatery where all men are welcome to a friendly and free-form conversation. There is no choir practice on March 15.

A music performance will take place at 4 p.m. on March 15 by Lisa Neher, a mezzo-soprano and composer based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, followed by master classes. Also, the EWU Choral will perform at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 with the opportunity for digital dialog between the choir and audience. Admission fees of $3 or $5 will be collected by the EWU Choral.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, March 18. Our new pastor Arianna Arends will preside. We welcome pastor Arianna.

Emmanuel Lenten mid-week soup supper and worship concludes on Wednesday, March 21. Soup supper is served at 6 p.m. followed by Holden Evening Prayer at 6:45 p.m. All are welcome, visitors expected.

Emmanuel Holy Week schedule: March 25: Palm Sunday, 9 a.m. Christian Education, 10:30 a.m. worship, 11:30 fellowship. March 29: Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. worship. March 30: Good Friday, 7 p.m. worship. April 1: Easter Sunday, 9 a.m. Easter breakfast, 10:30 a.m. Easter Festival Worship, 11:30 a.m. fellowship.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7.

Heritage Baptist Church

During March, Heritage Baptist Church will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We will have a special early morning service Easter morning. The service will begin at 8:08 a.m. at the church. We do accept texts and emails for further information. Each person at the Easter morning service will receive a gift to help remember the death, the burial and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

We would love to have you join us in any future services or events. We are a Bible-based small church. All the functions of the church a based upon Bible teaching. We seek to be a family-based church environment. The church office is usually open Friday mornings from 10 a.m. – noon and at other times by appointment.

St. John’s Lutheran Church

We invite you to join us this Easter season. We will be holding an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. followed by an Easter breakfast (voluntary donations go to support our summer VBS program to which your children are also invited free of charge).

Prior to Easter Sunday, we have a Maundy Thursday Seder Meal on March 29 at 6 p.m. in which we enact the Jewish Passover celebration and eat a potluck meal together. Our Good Friday service is the next evening at 7 p.m. We welcome you to visit us at Easter or any time. All people, all faiths, always welcome.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit.

The Lenten Soup/Study, “Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John,” began Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. and will run for five sessions through March 21 in the parish hall. For further information call Susan Durrie at (509) 235-4273.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry, ELM, meets each Monday at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship and invites all college students to join us. For more information contact Soule at (509) 844-2553.

Choir practice is each Thursday at 6:15 p.m., continuing under the direction of Alexandra Rannow. Please come and sing with us.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

United Methodist Church

Observe the fifth Sunday of Lent this week at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Alissa Bertsch will continue the Lenten sermon series based on Rev. Mike Slaughter’s book, “Made for a Miracle.” Pastor Pat Sleeth will assist with the service as we focus on activating the power of prayer. Please join us in this series leading to Easter.

Each Wednesday there is a simple soup meal and Lenten study at 6 p.m. at the church. This study is also based on the book,” Made for a Miracle.”

Saturday morning, March 17, the UMC “Birthday Bunch” will gather at the Longhorn in Airway Heights. The no-host breakfast begins at 9 a.m. and will honor March birthdays.
