Cheney High senior all-nighter hosts Santa breakfast

Kids' craft corner, wreaths and poinsettias raffle along with pancakes, eggs, sausage and more to be featured on Dec. 9

On Dec. 9 from 8 – 11 a.m., Santa Claus will be visiting the Cheney High School cafeteria for Santa's breakfast. The cost to join the fun will be $5 a person with all proceeds benefiting the senior all-nighter committee.

On the menu will be pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. Santa will be there to take pictures with everyone and there will also be a live pianist playing Christmas tunes throughout the morning.

"We are very excited for this year's Santa breakfast," Lisa Koohns, the senior all-nighter president said. "We have a great committee that is led by Shelley Whiteley and Jennifer Pohl that has been planning and organizing this for the last month."

The kids attending will be entertained with a craft corner while parents finish eating their breakfast. There is a chance to walk away with prizes of fresh donated wreaths and poinsettias that the committee will raffle off for $1 a ticket.

The committee has a goal of raising $20,000 to put together the senior all-nighter on June 8.

"It really does take a whole year to raise that kind of money and a whole year to organize this type of event," Koohns said.

The committee meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the library at the high school. Everyone is welcome to join the meeting as the board tries to keep each meeting to one hour.

"We know everyone's time is precious," Koohns added. "We can always use a few extra helpers!  We have a really fun group of parents this year and have had some really great ideas.  We want to make the all-nighter a little bit different from previous years as well as exciting and memorable for our seniors."
