Cheney's Isaiah Rigo named All-American

Cheney High School senior Isaiah Rigo has been named a 2017 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School All-American by the U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee.

Rigo was on a list of 71 All-American released Oct. 16, and received All-American honors in the 100-meter dash, the 200, 400 and 1,500-meter race. Rigo is ranked first in the nation in the 200 and the 400 with times of 31.48 seconds and 1 minute, 0.16 seconds. He is second in the 1,500 in 3:43.41 and fourth in the 100 in 17.98.

Rigo competed this summer at the first-ever World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Nottwill, Switzerland, Aug. 3-6. Rigo won gold medals for team USA in the 100, 200 and 400, setting two personal records in the process.

Rigo won four gold medals (100, 200, 400 and 800) at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Stoke-Mandeville, England. He is currently pursuing a fourth consecutive 2A state cross country wheelchair championship at Pasco on Saturday, Nov. 4.
