Congregational Church

Please join us for worship on Sundays. We welcome everyone and are accessible to people with disabilities and hearing impairment. We are the green church at 423 N. Sixth St.

We are excited to be offering a series of peace events this fall beginning with a community wide invitation to came and hear Dr. Lisa Brown address the topic of peace in our community. The opening event will be at noon in our fellowship hall on International Peace Day, Thursday, Sept. 21. We hope this allows some to attend over their lunch breaks. Sandwiches and drinks will be served. We are also re-dedicating our own peace pole which has stood vigil outside our sanctuary for 15 years. Please join us.

Our community service schedule is busy this month, beginning with our serving the birthday celebrations at Cheney Care Center on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m.

We join with others to serve Feed Cheney. September is our special barbeque in the park at 5:30 p.m. in Sutton Park. If you’d like to help, just visit their website at http://www.feedcheney.com

We will be serving lunch at Crosswalk on Thursday, Sept. 28, at noon.

A team from our congregation will be heading out to Redeemer Lutheran to help with the mobile food pack event for Feed My Starving Children, Sept. 29 – 30. Contact pastor Dave Krueger-Duncan (509) 202-0842 if you would like to join our team.

Don’t forget to save the date: The church bazaar will be Saturday, Nov. 4.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, Sept. 17. We welcome our interim pastor Ward Robak this week. Coffee hour and ice cream social follows the worship service. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney.

Emmanuel is having a “Garden Basket” raffle to raise funds for our church organ repair. This event is open to the community to participate.

Ticket prices are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets are available through the church office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – noon or Sunday morning before or after worship.

Here are a few items available: garden yard cart, shovel, bypass lopper, pruner, pruning saw, small garden tools, small trellis and more. The drawing will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1 at noon. Participants do not need to be present to win. For more information, please call (509) 235-6300. This is a Thrivent team event.

For those who are art lovers we have a donated print by local artist Ladd Bjorneby up for silent auction over the next two weeks. His paintings and prints are shown at Avenue West Gallery in Spokane. If you would like to make a bid, please stop by the church at the above listed times.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Thank you for your continued support.

Four Lakes

Community Church

We are a non-denominational Village Missions Church. We exist to exalt the Lord, to educate and edify the saints and evangelize the lost. All are welcome.

Our upcoming sermon series will be on Ephesians 5:1-10 entitled “Be Imitators of God” by pastor Sean Carney. Our worship services combine contemporary choruses and traditional hymns.

Join us for Wednesday music practice at 6:30 p.m. and Friday morning men’s breakfast and Bible study at 7 a.m. AWANA will begin on Thursday Sept. 14.

United Methodist Church

The birthday bunch from the United Methodist Church will gather at Xanny’s Resort at Williams Lake on Saturday Sept. 16. The no-host breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. and will honor September birthdays.

Please join us for Sunday school and worship at UMC this week. Pastors Alissa Bertsch Johnson and Pat Sleeth will lead the worship service. Hear about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the book of Daniel as we continue the sermon series on “Sunday School Lessons All Grown Up.” Preceding worship there is a multi-age Sunday school class at 9 a.m. There is also an adult class based on “The Book of Joy.”
