StageWest Children's Theatre Workshop a success

StageWest Community Theatre, with the association of Medical Lake School District, wrapped up the 2017 Children's Theatre Workshop with two separate performances on Saturday July 22 that mixed portions of the classic tales of "The Wizard of Oz" with Lewis Carol's "Alice in Wonderland."

StageWest publicity director Nancy Kuonen said the workshop was a collaborative effort of many people. Medical Lake High School provided the use of its auditorium for rehearsals and performances, Ross Niblock helped with lights, sound and scenery and Jackson Sorensen for using his senior project to be the assistant director.

Also assisting was the Davenport High School drama department, which provided some costumes and props.

"And our biggest thank you to the families of our students who helped with costumes, props, getting the children to rehearsals and the performances and helping the children learn their lines," Kuonen wrote in an email. "Without the help of the community our Children's Workshop would not have been the success that it was. Thank you all."

StageWest is gearing up for its performance of "Academia Nuts" by Gregg Kreutz sometime this fall.
