After four months on the job, Cheney City Administrator Robert Strope resigned from his position.

Seventeen-year-old Brandon Robo of Medical Lake could check off playing 12th fielder for the Spokane Spiders soccer team off his wish list thanks to a grant from the Wishing Star Foundation.

Cheney and Eastern Washington officials had entered into a contract where the city will help the university install its new challenge course at Ed Chissus Field in exchange for future usage of the course by city staff and residents.

A program at the Cheney library included visitors from the Snow Ridge llama range in North Spokane.

The Medical Lake School District started the summer by rewiring the school's computers together into an area network.

Country crooner, Chris LeDoux, came into town for a concert at Woodward Stadium at Eastern Washington University. He was known as the "Cadillac Cowboy."

July 2, 1987

Six people were hurt in a car accident on Cheney-Spokane Road with five of them residents of Cheney. The Washington State Patrol listed most of the injuries as "bumps, bruises and abrasions."

Administration and staff of the Cheney Care Center hosted a reception celebrating the 57th wedding anniversary of Francis and Cora Kuehl.

Bicyclists and runners were told that they would soon be able to run all the way around Medical Lake. The council received $74,000 from the Interagency Committee (IAC) for outdoor recreation to pave a trail approximately 6,000 feet long and eight feet wide. The new paved portion would extend from Waterfront Park along the western shore to the north side of the lake.

Five contestants were vying for the Cheney Rodeo Royalty honors at the Cheney Rodeo grounds.

Medical Lake Superintendent Clayton Dunn announced significant changes in the school board membership with two board members resigning.

The Cheney Track Club's senior boys' two-mile relay team of Matt Galloway, Jeff Snook, Vic Noder and Marshall Richmond set an Inland Empire and national record when they won the Junior Olympics competition with a time of 9 minutes and 45.4 seconds.

June 29, 1967

Charles Biel of Cheney, and an Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps cadet at the University of Oregon, received the Aerospace Studies 1 drill team award at the ROTC graduation.

The Lucky Strikes Spokane County little league softball team from Medical Lake finished play when they traveled to Davenport for their fourth and last game.

A luncheon meeting of Cheney High School class of 1914 was held at the Beehive restaurant. Richard Roos, one of the class members, took the whole group to his home afterwards.
