Cheney Community Church

‘Tis the season for giving, and that is the spirit of Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a project of the national organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Shoebox gifts packed with school supplies, toys, hygiene items and other small items are sent around the world in Jesus’ name to needy children in numerous countries. In addition to the gift box, children are offered the opportunity to take a Bible study entitled, “The Greatest Journey,” to learn about Jesus.

This year Cheney Community Church (CCC) is serving as the West Plains relay center for OCC. The church will receive shoeboxes and send them on to the next destination for processing. Shoeboxes can be brought to the relay Center at CCC all week. The open hours are Wednesday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m. – noon; Thursday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m. – noon and 4 – 6 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m. – noon and 4 – 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 20, 1 – 5 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 21, 9 – 11 a.m.

Anyone can pack a shoebox. Empty ones are still available at the relay center. They must be returned by Monday, Nov. 21.
