Patricia (Johnson) Young, Brandvold

Paddy was born in 1927 in Reardan Wash., she was the second daughter born to Ralph and Polly Johnson. Paddy grew up on Brownes Mountain where her father farmed.

She enjoyed a very happy childhood, being with her dear sister Gloria and living in a very, very special place. She graduated from Lindbergh High School in Valleyford, Wash. in 1945.

She began work at Spokane Paper and Stationary where she met the love of her life George Young. They had five children. Together, they had many great adventures living in Missoula, Mont. finally settling in Four Lakes where Paddy was the postmaster and George operated an adjoining grocery store.

George passed away unexpectedly in 1961. In 1964, Paddy purchased a wheat farm where she worked hard to keep it productive, eventually passing it to her son. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985.

In 2001, she married Rudy Brandvold. They enjoyed their years together dancing and playing pinochle until Rudy's passing in 2007. After Rudy's death she began her fascination with Wii Bowling, she became very good and was the second-place All City winner of the Senior Wii Bowling Tournament.

She lived at Evergreen Fountains and Park Place and loved all her friends and neighbors, living independent to the end. We will miss her holistic approach to health, homemade sweaters and her knitting genius.

She was preceded in death by her brother Glenn, a son, husbands George and Rudy, her father and mother, sister Gloria and grandson, Michael Fowler.

Survivors include Georgette (Larry) Wendt, Jody (Kena) Young, Laurel (Mark) Woodworth, Valerie (Dan) Dorshorst, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice of Spokane in Paddy's name. Special thanks to her caregivers Dr. Carijean Queen, Nora Redfox and Ruthanne Fix from Hospice of Spokane.
