Changeover to Yoke's Fresh Market begins

The Sept. 11 ownership change of the Cheney Trading Company to a Yoke's Fresh Market was right on schedule.

By Monday, Sept. 12, the signage on the store was in the process of being changed.

That is just the first of a lengthy process where four former Trading Company stores - including at Qualchan, Spokane Valley and Post Falls, Idaho - will have substantial makeovers.

"Rebranding the signs outside and inside will be a priority," John Orton, vice president of perishables and marketing for Yoke's said in an Aug. 18 Cheney Free Press story. The first store that will be remodeled will probably be Post Falls, Orton said.

Each store will take approximately two months to complete remodeling. "By spring, April or May, all four stores will be rebranded," Orton said.

Headquartered in Spokane Valley, Yoke's Foods, Inc. is an employee-owned company with locations in North Idaho, Eastern and Central Washington. The Trading Company locations bring Yoke's total number of stores to 17.

The sale, which was rumored for months, was announced by Yoke's on July 11.
