Kids Bingo for school supplies Sunday, Aug. 21

The Knights of Columbus of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish is holding a free Kids’ Bingo afternoon Sunday, Aug. 21, beginning at 1 p.m. at Cheney’s Wren Pierson Building. There is no fee to play, but a donation of one non-perishable food item per player to benefit the Cheney Food Bank is requested.

Prizes for winners are school supplies for Cheney Public Schools for kids from kindergarten to fifth-grade. Prizes are donated. Every student is a winner – no one goes home without a prize.

All kids must be accompanied by a parent or supervisory adult. All students of the school district are welcome. Register by calling (760) 793-1654 or online at tommayerdesigns@icloud.com.

District 6 candidate Lynnette Vehrs to be WSRPE speaker

Washington State Retired Public Employees Chapter 14 will meet upstairs in Medical Lake City Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at noon. The guest speaker will be Lynnette Vehrs, general election candidate for Washington State Representative, District 6, Position 1. Everyone is welcome.

Cheney coat drive meeting Aug. 25

It may be hot outside but it is planning time for the Cheney Community Coat Drive. Please come to the United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 to see how you can help.

Distribution is already set for Oct. 15. Many hands are needed for this distribution date.

Sweet Pea Boutique, 108 College Ave., is supporting the Cheney Outreach “Back to School” drive with a double-win fundraiser. Customers receive 10 percent off all resale purchases while Sweet Pea donates 10 percent of such purchases to Cheney Outreach.
