Harold LeRoy Jackson

Harold LeRoy Jackson, 82, of Tyler, Wash. passed away peacefully on May 23, 2016.

Harold was born Aug. 2, 1933 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. to Russell and Iva Jackson and was one of 11 children.  From 1938 to 1952, the family lived in 15 cities throughout Washington before settling in the Tyler area.

He went to Cheney High School through 10th grade after which he worked at Cheney Weeder making parts for combines. In 1952 he married the girl across the road, Helen Lamphier, and after living in Cheney for a brief time they moved to Pinehurst, Idaho. After a short time working in the smelter, they moved back to Tyler and started a family.

Harold worked at R&M Exterminators alongside his two brothers and father before taking over the business and finally retiring in 1999. After retiring, he worked part time at Dealer's Auto Auction.

Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and traveling the region with family and long-time friends.

Surviving family includes his wife of 64 years, Helen Jackson, son Mike Jackson and daughter Tammy Shaw all of Cheney. He is also survived by one sister, Delores Chambliss of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Vernon and William Jackson, sisters Helen Velacich, Julia Watson, Martha Morey, Dorothy Abbott and brothers Arthur and Martin Jackson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Cheney Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visit Harold's online guestbook at cheneyfuneral.com
