Cheney Community Church

The community is cordially invited to a National Day of Prayer gathering at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5 at Cheney Community Church, 1307 Third St. Come join in prayer for our nation and its leaders – national, state and local. God honors the prayers of his people.

Other ministries of the church include Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m. Nursery care and children’s church are provided. If you don’t have a regular church home, come visit our worship service. The youth group meets at 6 p.m. Monday for dinner, followed by Bible study and fellowship.

Our women will meet 9 a.m. this Saturday, May 7, for breakfast and fellowship, as we look ahead to Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8. Awana Club for boys and girls meets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Teens meet at 6 p.m. The clubbers will wear red, white and blue in honor of our military and Memorial Day.

Cheney United Church of Christ

You are cordially invited to join Cheney UCC for activities on Mother’s Day weekend. Our annual plant sale will be Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. – noon outside the church building at 423 N. Sixth St. You will find lush colorful hanging baskets and bedding plants. Perhaps you will find just the right thing for that special person on Mother’s Day. Your purchase will help kids go to camp.

Sunday, May 8 at 10 a.m., pastor David Krueger-Duncan will lead our services. Communion will be served. All are welcome to join communion with us if they wish to partake. Special music will be provided by soprano Keio Cunningham.

A coffee hour will follow in the church fellowship hall. Men’s breakfast group will meet at Marketplace Bakery & Eatery at 7:45 a.m. prior to services. The “Lunch Bunch” will meet at noon in the fellowship hall Thursday, May 12. You are cordially invited to bring a dish to share and join the group on that day.

Church office hours are generally Tuesday 4 – 6 p.m., Wednesday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Thursday 4 – 7 p.m. and 8 – 9 p.m. Call the church office at 235-4193 for information. Messages may be left if no one is in the office when you call.

We encourage you to join us at Sunday service or any of our activities. It would be our pleasure to get to know you. Everyone is welcome at all Cheney UCC events.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons at our website emmanuelcheney.org or on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Christian education for grade school through adult begins at 9 a.m.

Mark your calendars for Emmanuel’s 2016 VBS program scheduled for July 11 – 15. The theme this year is “Rooted. Imagine what will grow!” from Ephesians 3:17-19. Registration forms will be available soon on our website under the “Ministries” tab. This program is for children entering the first through sixth grade this fall. St. Rose Catholic Church will host children ages 3 – 5.

United Methodist Church

Bring mom to church this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Worship is at 10 a.m. and will be led by pastor Alissa Bertsch Johnson and associate pastor Pat Sleeth. Pastor Sleeth will be preaching on “Acts, Risen for All.” Preceding worship there are Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. including a grief support group based on the book, “A Grace Disguised.”

Immediately following worship, join us for a time of fellowship and “Muffins for Mom.”

After worship on May 15 and May 22 there are classes for any one interested in learning more about Methodist beliefs, practices and membership.
