Cheney blood drive Feb. 26

Inland Northwest Blood Center along with Cheney Community Blood Drive volunteers led by Duane Isaac will be coordinating a blood drive Friday, Feb. 26, at Marketplace Cheney and First Street just north of Zip’s Restaurant.

Donation hours are from 1:15 – 5 p.m.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

Feed Cheney Feb. 29

The next Feed Cheney free dinner and grocery distribution will be Monday, Feb. 29, at the Wren Pierson Community Center, 615 Fourth St. from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served by community volunteers to the sounds of live music, and is provided by Women and Children’s Free Restaurant and Feed Cheney. 

Second Harvest and Feed Cheney will provide groceries, with community volunteers providing the music.

Everything is free and open to the public. Clothing Bank is open 5 – 6:30 p.m.

SCFD 3 stair climb fundraiser Feb. 27

Spokane County Fire District 3 firefighters plan to climb 69 floors, 1,356 steps and 788 feet in vertical elevation in order to fight leukemia and lymphoma — and they need your help.

Join District 3 firefighters as they raise money for the 25th annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, taking place March 6 in Seattle. Firefighters are holding a fundraiser at Cheney’s Eagles Pub Saturday, Feb. 27, 414 First St., beginning at 5 p.m.

A three-course dinner of prime rib, salmon or barbecue chicken will be featured along with drink specials and beginning at 9 p.m., karaoke. There will also be prizes to be raffled.
