Terrance James Carlin

Terrance James Carlin, 74, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Jan. 31, 2016, at the Nathan Adelson Hospice surrounded by family and friends.

He was born May 11, 1941 in Shelby Mont., the son of Thomas Russell Carlin and Margaret Catherine Kimmet. He was the second of four siblings. At the age of 3 his family moved to the Spokane area, where he remained through college. Terrance was a member of the Cheney High School class of 1960. On Aug. 20, 1966 he married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Kay Morehouse.

In 1966 he graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a bachelors degree in education. He and Marilyn moved to Las Vegas where he began his teaching career. Terry was a mathematics teacher for the Clark County School District for 30 years. He taught at Von Tobel, Fremont and Las Vegas high schools.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn; his daughter and son-in-law Marly and Nick Barainca; daughter and son-in-law Micka and Mark Sorani; grandchildren Nicole, Maxwel and Mackenzi Barainca, and Grace and Monte “Gus” Sorani; brother Thomas Carlin, sister Cheryl Haigh and brother Jerry Carlin.

Terrance was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Monti Carlin Tettamanti, and infant son Terry Carlin.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Feb. 27, 2016 at their home from noon-4 p.m. All who knew him are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that gifts be made to the Monti Carlin Tettamanti Scholarship Endowment.
