Lungo earns state honors

Windsor Elementary School teacher Dustin Lungo was named the Physical Education Teacher of the Year by SHAPE Washington (Society of Health and Physical Educators).

Candidate’s for the award must have a minimum of five years teaching experience, serve as a professional role model and use the best practices to create a positive learning environment for all students. They must also exhibits commitment through involvement in professional organizations and advocacy.

Fillman hired as military family advocate

Medical Lake School District named Sarah Fillman as its military family advocate. Fillman has an extensive background in customer service and administration.

As the military family advocate, she will be coordinating and assisting military families of school-aged children with educational opportunities and information necessary to succeed in an academic environment. She is also the central point of contact for building administrators, military families and the district on school-related matters.

Fillman will work in collaboration with the staff at Fairchild Air Force Base who support military families to enhance the military student’s education.

Salnave raises over $200 for Guild School

Salnave Elementary School raised $227.82 during its annual coin drive for the Guild School, Oct. 19-23. This year’s amount is $19.99 more than last year, according to teacher Peggy Haslebacher. The coin drive is one of three service projects Salnave’s ASB participates in during the school year.
