Deadlines for submitting West Plains Briefs is noon Monday. Briefs should be under 100 words. Briefs may be edited for length.

Community Coat Distribution

Coats have been collected throughout the Cheney area and now it is time to distribute them.

Anyone needing a coat for this winter is invited to come to Sunset Elementary School on Friday, Oct. 16 from 3 – 5 p.m. or to Salnave Elementary School on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Remaining coats will be available at Feed Cheney Monday, Oct. 26 at the Wren Pierson Building from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Thanks to the generosity of the Cheney community there are coats for anyone who needs one.

Nazarene pumpkin patch starts Saturday, Oct. 17

Cheney’s Church of the Nazarene is sponsoring a pumpkin patch activity, featuring free face painting, a bouncy house and petting zoo courtesy of Rough Start. The pumpkin patch runs Monday – Friday, Oct. 19 –23 and Oct. 26 – 30 from 1 – 7 p.m., and Saturdays Oct. 17, 24 and 31 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., 4 p.m. start Oct. 31.

All proceeds will go to Cheney Outreach to help local families in need this winter. The church is located at 338 W. Betz Road.

ML firefighter T-shirts

Medical Lake firefighters are wearing pink shi rts in support of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Medical Lake Firefighters Association is selling pink T-shirts to raise money for Susan G Komen of Eastern Washington. T-shirts are available in sizes small through 4XL at $15 each or two for $25. Also available are black hoodie sweatshirts with pink design.
