Weather a factor in success of Turnbull Wildlife Refuge prescribed fall burns

With a little luck, Cheney and southwest Spokane County residents may see a plume or two of smoke rising into the air in the next couple of weeks.

Weather conditions permitting, officials at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge are planning on conducting several prescribed burns on the refuge between mid-October and November. According to a United States Department of the Interior news release, the burns should have little to no impact on the public’s access to the majority of the refuge.
