Cheney hosts workshop on Common Core

What are the new common core standards? How do the standards affect student learning? What can families, youth development programs and communities do to help students be successful in meeting these standards? Where can people find resources to help them support students?

These and other questions will be tackled at an upcoming community workshop in Cheney aimed at supporting students in the West Plains area. The workshop is sponsored by School’s Out Washington (SOWA), a statewide nonprofit group that provides services and guidance for organizations to ensure that young people have safe places to learn and grow when not in school. The workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Wren Pierson Community Center, 615 Fourth St. in Cheney.
