Save our Station meeting

Save our Station: You are invited to learn the history of the Cheney train depot and explore paths to take to retain this historic structure in the community. Join the group at the Cheney Library meeting room on Thursday, May 1 at 5:30 p.m. For information please call Bonnie at 235-8795.

Chadwick’s Bunco Fundraiser

The West Plains Relay for Life team “Team Keepin’ it Moving,” is holding “Jessica’s Help Whip Cancer Bunco Fundraiser” Friday, May 2, at the Jensen Youth Ranch, 620 Stanley St. in Medical Lake. This is the 11th year team member Jessica Chadwick has hosted the event.

Bunco runs from 6-9 p.m. All that’s needed is to place a Pampered Chef order or pay $12. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society, West Plains Relay for Life and Team Keepin’ it Moving.

Pampered Chef orders must be placed by May 2. For more information on placing orders call Jessica at 509-869-2178.

ML Alumni Association meeting

Medical Lake High School Alumni Association will meet 4 p.m., May 7, at Ralph and Sharon Spilker’s home, 112 Ladd St., (230-1199) to set up a large tent for the MLHSAA Scholarship yard sale on May 9 and 10. The yard sale runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Next, the association will travel to Janice Cogswell Radmer’s home, 24329 W. Fancher Road (299-5269) for a potluck dinner to finalize the yard sale and the 50th reunion for the 1964 MLHS graduates being held during Founder’s Day weekend. Founder’s Day is June 21.

CHS hosts Internet safety

While the Internet and social media can be fun, they can also be dangerous places, especially for children. To help parents keep children safe when using social media, Cheney High School is hosting a presentation by national and international personal safety expert Darren Laur on Friday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m.

Laur has 28 years in law enforcement and is an internationally recognized safety expert and published, award-winning author. His presentation is designed to educate even the most computer illiterate parent.
